Educated at Wimbledon College then Beaumont College and Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge (where he was an Open Scholar).
Patrick started visiting Caius House Youth club in 1965 and has been working with the charity ever since, where he is a Trustee and Co-Chairman of the Management Committee.  Currently Chairman of Intu Properties plc (a FTSE100 Company), he is a Non-Executive Director of a number of other companies (public and private).  He was a Solicitor in the City of London and ended as Senior Partner of his firm.


He has a wide range of charitable interests besides chairing the Corporate Responsibility Committee and overseeing the Corporate Responsibility Programme at Intu (about which he is extremely keen).  He is Chancellor of the Venerable Order of St John. He has a number of other charitable involvements including acting as Chairman of a medical institute and of the Volunteer Board of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is a Trustee of a number of local charities in Sussex.


By way of background, he is aged 70, married to Maggie, a Canadian, and has three children, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law and six grandchildren.
